About Peace Reformed

Who are we?
Our members are from the tri-state metro area, and from
nearby towns and rural areas. Some of us are very young
and some of us have great grandchildren. We may be
married or single. We are farmers and factory workers,
teachers and truck drivers, nurses, managers, students,
and retirees. We all share the knowledge that we have
been blessed, and we want to share that blessing with
others.
History
During the late summer of
2003 an enthusiastic group of believers were drawn
together by their need to participate in a worship
service that they found meaningful and uplifting.
In September this group began Sunday evening worship at
Sioux City’s Goodwill Industries building. Encouraged by
consistent attendance and the genuine affection
among participants, a growing number began to
think about the formation of a new congregation. They
envisioned a family oriented church that would welcome
visitors, care for its members, and reach out into the
community to share the love and peace of Jesus Christ.
In late October, approximately seventy people met with
representatives from the Reformed Church in America,
Classis of West Sioux, to discuss the viability of a new
church in the Sioux City metro area, and to learn the
process by which it could happen. With the
assistance of church planter Rev. Don De Kok, a set of
core values to guide the
new congregation was composed.
Peace Reformed Church held its first Sunday morning
worship service on November 23, 2003. We immediately
began a search for a full time pastor, and our prayers
were answered when in late August, the Reverend Robert
J. Rook accepted our call to come and lead our young
church.
As a congregation we are proud of our association with
the Reformed Church in
America, and regard the sound theology on which the
denomination is based as part of our spiritual heritage.
