Today the chairs were delivered, unloaded, and stored in the storage closet off the sanctuary.
Thanks to everyone who helped!
This month steady progress has been made on the interior.
Most walls have been framed, the stairway has been built, and sheet rock work is well
under way. On the exterior, a large portion of the west wall's finish is
complete, and the cross is up.
The building is now fully enclosed, and the upper level floor is
being poured.
A few roof panels are going up and the west side of the building is partial framed and enclosed.
Leiber has been busy moving dirt just north of the upper parking lot which has improved the visibility from Outer Belt.
The beams are really impressive too!
The weather didn't cooperate liked we had hoped. It wasn't the rain, but
the wind that caused some delay. The beams weigh nearly 8000 lbs each,
plus the contractor needs to be extremely careful not to damage the wood
finish while placing the beams, so the weather conditions need to be
right. By Friday afternoon, 4 beam were in place with the rest of the
beams already prepped with steel brackets.
The Lite-Form installation should also be completed this week, however he
can't work on the upper deck while the beams are being placed. The
completion of Lite-Form should only take 1-2 days once the beams are in place.
Don Moritz, L&L's job superintendent, has 90% of the lower level
concrete poured and has scheduled the "framers" to start putting walls
up in the lower level sometime this week. (Don is great superintendent and we
are very fortunate to have him on the job. Hopefully everyone can meet
him sometime.)
The remaining driveway and upper level parking is also scheduled to be
completed this week. Brian M. is working with Lieber Construction (dirt
contractor) to remove the appropriate amount of dirt to enhance the visibility
as much as possible from Outer Belt Drive. Hopefully the final dirt elevations
for landscaping will happen this fall, but the volume of dirt and weather may
impact that schedule.
The project is probably 2 months behind schedule
because of various reasons. Every effort is being made to reduce that
schedule, but quality is more important.
As you can see in the pictures we are making
progress. The steel erectors are busy welding the various connections and
the metal decking. Once the deck has been welded and inspected by the
city, Lieber will "backfill" and compact dirt along the west side. The
welding needed to be completed before backfilling so the compaction won't push
the concrete wall out of alignment. After the backfilling process has been
completed, the crane will return, but will get closer to structure to swing the
huge beams into place. Don told me the weight, he said they were very
heavy.
On picture No 3, you'll see the SIPS or roof panels have been
delivered and positioned on the parking lot. Once the beams are in place,
they'll be the next piece of the puzzle. The panels are wrapped in
plastic to keep them out of the weather. The Lite-Form guy
was also at the site preparing re-bar for the next section of Lite-Form.
If the weather isn't too bad next week , we should make substantial progress over the 10 days.
The same guy that did
the hydro seeding, I had mow the weeds on the east side. (Actually some
pretty decent grass under the weeds) So if Lieber gets there to complete
dirt work along the north side, there probably will be some junk to be picked.
Plus, I know there are a ton of sticks and branches where it was freshly
mowed that we should clean up. Perhaps we should have a Saturday
morning property clean up before it snows...
Enough Ramblin'
!!!!

Lots of work was done this week on getting steel up.
Progress! The lower level walls are up, there is water to the building, and utility installation is nearly complete. Concrete work on the lower level parking lot and driveway is well underway.
L&L is making progress pouring concrete at the church site. Don and his crew are working on the parking lot and a different concrete subcontractor is doing the driveway only. Weather permitting, the driveway should be done by Wednesday evening with more of the parking lot scheduled to pour on Thursday.
